Cong,CPI poised to form govt in Manipur

Imphal, Feb 27 (UNI) Riding the crest of absolute majority the Congress-CPI combine is poised to form the new government in Manipur after results of the ninth assembly were declared today.

In the 60-member House the Congress bagged the lion's share of 30 and ally CPI four. The MPP and NCP have five seats each in their kitty. The RJD made a surprise entry with three seats. Independents bagged ten seats while the NPP got three.

The Congress and CPI were partners in the previous Secular Progressive Front(SPF) government led by Mr Okram Ibobi Singh.
