BSF busts fake currency racket originated by Bangladesh

Shillong, Feb 27 (UNI) The BSF today seized Rs 43200 fake currency notes from a Bangladeshi national at Purakhasia village of Meghalaya West Garo Hills district near Indo-Bangla border.

The accused, who hails from Haraikona village of Sherpur district in Bangladesh, was arrested along with the counterfiet Indian currency notes, BSF official said.

BSF officials also said they have seized 80 fake notes of Rs 500 denomination and 32 fake notes of Rs 100 denomination from the possession of the arrested Bangladeshi national.

Meanwhile, the BSF was interrogating the accused.

Earlier, the state police had cautioned the public about the large-scale circulation of counterfeit currency notes in the region.
