2 soldiers, 2 militants killed, war like stores recovered in J
Srinagar, Feb 27 (UNI) Two Army personnel and two militants were killed and a huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered while ultras triggered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and another was defused in the Kashmir valley overnight.
A defence ministry spokesman said troops of 30 RR launched a search operation at Drangshu, Handwara, about 90 km from here in the frontier district of Kupwara last night.
He said the encounter ensued after militants opened fire and also hurled hand grenades.
During the fierce encounter, a militant and two soldiers were killed, he said adding that one AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant. A release issued here said two soldiers were wounded in the encounter.
Yesterday, troops killed two militants of Pakistan based Lashker-e Toiba (LeT) in the nearby forest area.
A militant was killed by the security forces in an encounter at Chandigam in the frontier district of Kupwara yesterday evening.
