TN: Sri Lankan Navy kills Indian fisherman

Chennai, Feb 26: An Indian fisherman was shot dead and anothersustained bullet injuries when Sri Lankan Navy personnel opened fire inthe midsea last night.

According to reports received at the police headquarters heretoday, a group of six fishermen, hailing from Nagapattinam district inTamil Nadu, had ventured into the sea for fishing early yesterday.

The escaped fishermen, who returned to the shore this morning,said the Lankan Navy opened fire without any provocation, killing oneof them on spot and injuring another.

The injured was admitted to a government hospital.
