Kolkata, Feb 26 (UNI) Altogether 204 Singur residents today appeared for a test to enhance their employability in the Tata Motors' proposed small car unit through tailor-made courses.

Conducted jointly by the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) and Tata Motors, third such test in two months, was aimed at finding suitable candidates, who could qualify for advanced training to enhance their employability in the proposed plant, Tata Motors sources here informed.

The test for Singur residents, who had registered their names in WBIDC, was tailored as per their educational qualifications, sources added.

This third batch of 204 candidates comprised those Singur residents who had earlier been placed by the WBIDC at the Ramakrishna Mission Shilpa Mandir (Belur) for exposure to different industrial skills, and those, who did not qualify in the tests held for Industrial Training Institute (ITI) on December 25, 2006 and February 10.

Meanwhile, the 15 ITI-trained individuals, who were selected in the previous two rounds of tests and interviews for six-month training at Tata Motors' Jamshedpur facility, will leave for the plant on February 28 as their training will commence the next day.

On successful completion of the training programme, they will be eligible for employment in the small car project at Singur, the sources added.
