Ryotu Sangham urges CM to sell BT cotton seeds at cheaper rates
Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Ryotu Sangham today urged state Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to take steps to provide BT Cotton seeds at cheaper rates to benefit farmers.
The Sangham leaders, led by All India Kisan Sabha Vice-President K Nageswara Rao, today submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister in this regard.
In the memorandum they said that Bolguard-one variety seed should be sold at the rate of Rs 650 per 450 grams instead of Rs 750 as proposed by the government and Bolguard-two variety seed at the rate of Rs 750 instead of Rs 925 per 450 grams.
They also urged the Chief Minister to specify the number of gates for Pulichintala and Polavaram Irrigation Projects in the GO.
The contractors had announced that they would construct 24 gates instead of 33 gates for Pulichintala project and 38 gates instead of 49 gates for Polavaram project as proposed by the government, the sangham leaders said.
The Chief Minister had asssured them to look into the matter, they added.
