Railways to give free training in African countries
New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) The Railways have extended the facility of imparting free training to the Railway persons of African countries in the current financial year, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav told the Lok Sabha today.
Presenting the Railway Budget for the year 2007-08,he said the programme for training of BIMSTEC and Mekong Ganga countries launched by Indian Railways had been widely acclaimed. Taking this initiative further the Railways had further extended the training facility.
The Minister said the Indian Railways had signed a memorandum of understanding with Italy, Russia and South Africa to promote bilateral cooperation. The Railways were promoting the Look East policy of the Government.
The Chairman ,Railway Board,he said, had been elected first Chairman of Asian Railway Association.The Indian Railways were also playing an important role in the functioning of the International Railway Union and Railway Board Chairman had been elected first non-European president of the UIC.
