Punjab Cabinet recommends dissolution of state Assembly
Chandigarh, Feb 26 (UNI) The Punjab Cabinet today approved the dissolution of the 12th state Legislative Assembly for paving the way for the constitution of 13th Legislative Assembly.
This decision was taken in the last meeting of the Cabinet held here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
The dissolution was recommended under Sub Clause (b) of Clause (2) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India.
The Cabinet decision will be conveyed to state Governor Lt Gen (retd) S F Rodrigues by the Chief Minister later in the day or tomorrow when counting of votes to 116 of the 117 assembly segments is taken up. The results are expected to be out by noon tomorrow, after which the Chief Minister is expected to submit his resignation to the Governor.
