Police save 489 cattle, arrest 14 persons in Amreli
Rajkot, Feb 26 (UNI) The police have arrested 14 persons near Amreli for allegedly ferrying 489 cattle in five trucks to a slaughter house at Surat.
Police Sub Inspector B B Parmar today told UNI they had received an information that the cattle were being transported to Surat Slaughter House from Madressa in Amreli yesterday.
Acting on the tip-off, a police team, led by Mr Parmar, mounted a vigil on the Amreli highway and intercepted the trucks carrying the livestock at different points on the outskirts of the city and arrested 14 persons in this connection, he said.
Cattle heads included bullocks, calves, goats and sheeps, totalling 489, Mr Parmar added.
