New Medical Collge to come up in Bellary

Bangalore, Feb 26 (UNI) Karnataka Medical Education Minister V S Acharya today said that the government plans to open a new Dental College in Bellary.

Dr Acharya told reporters here today that the land and other infrastructure was already available for the opening of the dental college.

''A dental college is much needed in this area,'' he said adding that the college will be ready by 2008.

Dr Acharya said that the government had given autonomous status to the remaining two medical colleges in Mysore and Bangalore, following a good feedback from colleges in Hubli and Bellary which had already become autonomous.

With this all the government medical colleges, including the six new colleges, had become atonomous bodies now.

The government would double the government seats in medical courses from the existing 300 and increase the seats in dental courses to 840, from the coming academic year, he said.

'Constitution of India' a book written by Dr A V Prasanna, a KAS cadre official, with an easy narration to help students understand the country's constitution was released by the minister on the occasion.
