Minister tenders unconditional apology before court

Kochi, Feb 26 (UNI) In a significant development, Kerala Local Administration Minister Paloli Mohammedkutty today appeared before the High Court and tendered an unconditional apology for his remarks against the court.

The High Court took suo motu proceeding against the minister for his 'denigrating' comments against it during a speech at a function in Kozhikode on January 30.

The minister appeared in person today along with his advocate and Former Advocate General M K Damodaran.

In his affidavit, the minister contended he had no intention of making any baseless allegation or comments against the functioning of the High Court or any other court in the state. He had utmost respect for the court of law.

The minister further said, ''I hereby express my sincere and deep regret for my speech and tender my unconditional apology to the court.

''I hereby pray that this court may please drop the above(contempt proceedings) proceedings against me.'' The court posted the case for further hearing to February 28.

However, the court dispensed with the appearance of the Minister on the day.
