Mercury rises to 26.2

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) A day after light rains and thundershowers brought a slight chill in the Delhi air, the mercury today rose to 26.2 Degree C even as weathermen forecast wet and chilly weather in the Capital in the next few days in the run up to Holi.

The clouds covering the Delhi skyline led to a rise in maximum temperature from 24.6 Degree C yesterday, to 26.2 Degree C today.

There was, however, a slight drop in minimum temperature to 13 Degree Celsius.

The rise in the level of mercury notwithstanding, the weather office has forecast wet and chilly conditions in the next few days under the influence of fresh Western disturbance.

''Scattered rain and snowfall is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal during the next 24 hours. Scattered rain and thundershowers are likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh tomorrow and the day after,''the weather office said.

Light rains and thundershowers hit the Capital yesterday afternoon, brought down the maximum temperature to 24.6 Degree Celsius from 26.4 Degree C on Saturday.

Weathermen have forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with possibility of rains and thundershowers in some areas.

A rise in minimum temperature tomorrow to 15 Degree C is also expected.
