Mala Mahanadu urge CM to constitute Dalit committee

Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UNI) State Mala Mahanadu today urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to constitute a Dalit committee for their overall development in the state.

The delegation, led by its State President J Prabhakara Rao, today met Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum to look into the problems of the Dalits in the state.

In the memorandum, they said the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Commission, appointed by the earlier government to prevent atrocities on Dalits, should be reconstituted with intellectual Dalits as its members instead of political leaders.

They said the government should provide assiged lands, house site pattas and construct houses for Dalits for their betterment.

The delegation also demanded that a discussion should be held in the State Assembly for providing job reservations for Dalits in private sector in the state.
