Govt statement on Quattrocchi in Parliament tomorrow

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) The Government will make a statement in both Houses of Parliament tomorrow on the detention of Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi, main accused in the Bofors pay off scam, in Argentina, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs P R Dasmunsi said today.

The Speaker will set the time when the statement will be made, Mr Dasmunsi said talking to mediapersons here while not specifying who would make the statement from the Government on the issue.

Mr Dasmunshi said if after the statement the Opposition wanted any debate, the Government would be able to furnish all the details."Nothing will be done in a hush hush manner," he added.

Asked whether there was any extradition treaty or not with Argentina, the Minister he was not the External Affairs Minister to speak with authority. This would be confirmed in the statement to be made tomorrow in Parliament.

Stating that the Government had nothing to hide on the Quattrocchi issue, the Minister said the law would take its own course. He described it as a blatant lie and malicious propaganda to say that the information about Quattrocchi's detention was made very late. He said the Government was not a spokesman of the CBI .
