Cushions of comfort for the poor in New Railway budget

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) The poorest of the poor travelling in the unreserved second class compartment will now have some cushions of comfort, promises the new Railway Budget presented today.

Besides, it has announced more facilities for other categories of passengers too.

The wooden berths in the unreserved second class compartments will be replaced by cushioned seats. Besides, a total of 800 more coaches will be attached to popular trains.

There will also be an increase in the ureserved coaches from four to six in every new train.

Efforts will be made to add more unreserved coaches in existing trains too, Railways Minister Lalu Prasad said while presenting the budget.

He said senior citizen and women above 45 years, travelling alone, will be given the facility to opt for lower berths in reservation.

The number of special coaches for the physically handicapped will also be increased.

There will be separate coaches for milkmen and vegetable vendors and other retail sellers.
