Affected persons submit memorandum to CM on ORR project

Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UNI) Inhabitants who were affected by the proposed Outer Ring Road (ORR) Project on the city outskirts, today urged the Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy not to change the alignment of the project keeping in mind the farmers' interests.

Displaced Persons Sangham convenor Bhaskara Reddy and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) vice president of Ranga Reddy district C Bheem Reddy, along with farmers, met the Chief Minister today and submitted a memorandum in this regard.

The memorandum stated that the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority had given a fresh notice in some survey numbers for the alignment changes in Koheda and Brahmanapalli villages.

They alleged that 140 acre of agricultural land and 73 dalit families would be affected if the authorities went ahead with the new alignment.

However, they said that they were not against the project, but the ORR project should be set up only in government land.

They also demanded compensation for the farmers at the rate of Rs 50 lakh per acre instead of Rs eight lakh as announced by the government earlier.

The project should be stopped till the government solve the problems of the displaced persons, the said.
