Ramachandran appointed vice-chairman of ITU-APT Foundation

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) Mr T V Ramachandran has been appointed as vice-chairman of ITU-APT Foundation of India, a non-profit and non-political society.

The forum works towards active involvement of industry and private sector in the activities of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT).

Mr Ramachandran is also director general of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and chairman of ITU forum of the regional working group (RWG) on private sector issues for Asia and Pacific region.

The foundation's scope broadly relates to activities concerning research and study on telecommunications, broadcasting, information technology and space sciences with special emphasis on rural development.

Mr P S Saran, former secretary at the department of telecom services is its chairperson and Mr R.N. Agarwal, former wireless advisor to the government is the president. Mr Anil Prakash, an international telecom consultant, is the secretary general.
