New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) With a view to boosting booking of railway tickets through the Internet, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp is considering reducing service charge rptg charge on the e-ticketing facility.

IRCTC Managing Director P K Goyal said the service charge on e-ticketing could come down by Holi.

At present, Rs 25 are charged as service charge on second class and sleeper e-tickets and Rs 40 on all other e-tickets.

Rs 25 may be brought down to Rs 20 or 15 and Rs 40 to Rs 25.

The reduction was being thought about as out of around 30,000 reserved tickets booked each day, 23,000 were e-tickets while 7,000 are i-tickets.

e and i-tickets can be booked online after registering at the IRCTC website. Under the i-ticket scheme, tickets are delivered at home while under the e-ticket scheme a printout of the ticket is taken by the passenger.

Rs 40 are charged as service charge on second class and sleeper on i-tickets and Rs 60 on all other i-tickets.

IRCTC is presently not considering a reduction on service charge on i-tickets as it has to pay Rs 12 per ticket to a courier company for home delivery of tickets.
