NGO to provide free medical equipment to needy people

Rajkot, Feb 25 (UNI) A local voluntary organisation aims to provide free medical and surgical equipment to the needy and poor patients in rural areas of Rajkot and the Saurashtra region.

The President of the Bolbala Trust, situated at Laxmiwadi area of the city Jignesh Upadhyay told UNI the Trust has bought a mobile van which would run in the remote areas and provide service to the patients. The service would start in a month or so.

The organisation offers humanitarian services to the needy patients and has state-of-the-art medical and surgical equipment worth Rs 80 lakh, he noted.

It intends to provide free medical and surgical equipment such as air-bed, water-bed, wheel-chair, walker, toilet-chair, urine pot, physical exercise equipment, orthopeadic-cot and waist belt to the needy and poor patients. About 80,000 patients have been benefited by the project so far, he said.

Mr Upadhyay said the Trust was established some 16 years ago with the aim to help people of weaker sections of the society.

He said the Trust plans to set-up rehabilitation centre on the outskirts of the city for the physically challnged people. For this, it has acquired 8000 sq m land. It also plans to set up a clinic in the city to provide medical service at nominal charges to the needy.

''We are providing free food to about 1100 to 1200 people be they aged, physically handicapped, orphans, helpless and weak daily through the mobile van,'' he informed.
