Lights rains, thundershowers bring down mercury in Capital

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) Light rains today brought down the mercury in the capital, indicating what could be start of another wet and chilly spell in Delhi before the Holi festival, which heralds the onset of Summer season.

The rains and thundershowers, which hit the Capital this afternoon, followed an overcast sky in Delhi since the morning.

The rain and thundershowers brought down the maximum temperature in the capital by two to three degrees, from 26.4 Degree C yesterday, lending a slight chill to the Delhi air.

Earlier, this morning, the clouds in the skyline led to a sharp rise in minimum temperature to 13.4 Degrees Celsius, from 10.8 degrees C yesterday.

Though only traces of rainfall were recorded, weathermen have forecast more rain and thundershowers in Delhi in the next two to three days under the influence of a fresh Western disturbance, indicating another wet and chilly spell in Delhi before the Holi festival, which falls on March 4 and heralds the arrival of the Summer season in Delhi.

While isolated rain has been forecast in the next 24 hours, some heavy spells of rainfall could hit the capital towards the middle of the coming week.

Weathermen have forecast a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of light rains and thundershowers in some areas of Delhi during the next 24 hours.
