HPSEB to close examination centres in private schools

Dharamsala, Feb 25 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh School Education Board (HPSEB) has decided to close down examination centres in private affiliated schools following complaints of copying during the past few years, Board Chairman B R Rahi said.

After receiving numerous complaints against private schools helping students in mass copying, the board has decided to close down examination centres in private schools, he said.

Mr Rahi said following this decision thousands of students in over 2,000 affiliated private schools of the state would have to appear for their board examinations in nearby government schools.

Besides, to improve the standard of education in private schools, the board has introduced a new grading system for the private schools, he said.

He said under the new system, they would be categorised into three categories of A, B and C according to the period of their existence, performance and the infrastructural facilities available with them.

He said the board has also decided to change the academic session of standard ten in all schools of the snow-bound tribal belts of the state.

In another decision, the board has decided to set question papers in accordance with the IQ level, which has also been categorized into three categories into above average, average and below average, he said.

The HPSEB Chairman said subsequently, 20 per cent of the questions would be set keeping in view the IQ level of the above average students and 40 per cent each in accordance to the IQ level of the average and below average students.

This, he said, would help in assessing the students better and according to their IQ level, he added.
