Government to open 15,000 new schools in Bihar : Nitish
Madhepura, Feb 25 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced that 15,000 new schools would be opened in the state.
After laying the foundation of a power grid here, Mr Kumar said thousands of children remained deprived of basic education due to non-existence of schools in far-flung areas of the state.
He said the process of recruitment of 2.35 lakh teachers had been initiated and it would be completed in different phases. After completion of this recruitment process, student-teacher ratio would become 40-1, he added.
Mr Kumar said an engineering college and a medical college would be opened in Madhepura in the names of B P Mandal and Karpoori Thakur respectively, the two great socialist leaders, who struggled for equality-based scoiety.
He said apart from discharging routine duties, policemen had been asked to spot street children and ensure their admission in schools.
