Sadhu suggests creation of a system to strengthen Marathi language

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Feb 24 (UNI) Veteran journalist and president of the All India Marathi Literary Meet, Mr Arun Sadhu today advocated the need for a mechanism to co-ordinate between the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Mahamandal (ABMSM) and various literary units in the state in order to follow-up the issues pertaining to strengthening of Marathi language.

Mr Sadhu, who is on a visit to the city, told reporters here, various literary units in the state pass resolutions, the state government too announces various measures to boost the Marathi language and its strengthening, but all lack in either follow-up or in implementation.

According to him, a separate mechanism, if created, comprising of head of the Marathi departments from various universities in the state, would co-ordinate between the literary units and the ABMSM to resolve various pending issues pertaining to Marathi literature, and to fulfill the requirements of the Marathi-speaking population.

He said though there are rules made by the government for displaying Marathi name plates in the government offices, public places in the state, they are not implemented.

The government has also made an announcement regarding the use of Marathi language in the working of the courts in the state, but the same was lacking in implementation and said the system, if created to follow up on these issues, would certainly help in boosting the Marathi language.
