MPVL dispatches indelible ink for UP elections

Mysore, Feb 24 (UNI) The state owned Mysore Paints and Varnish ltd. (MPVL) has dispatched indelible ink bottles worth Rs 1.5 crore to Lucknow for the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh elections to be held in seven phases from April seven.

MPVL Chairman Ravishankar told UNI that about 361 boxes of delible ink, each containing 700 bottles of ink were dispatched by road to Bangalore last evening and they would be airlifted to Lucknow.

He said about 1,10,000 booths would be established for the elections in Uttar Pradesh and for each booth, two bottles of indelible ink would be distributed. Each bottle contains 10ml of ink would be used for more than 350 voters in one booth.

In all, 2,50,000 bottles of delible ink was kept ready for the Uttar Pradesh elections. The indelible inks from the company were used in Punjab and Manipur elections.

THe MPVL has been supplying the indelible ink to the elections since from 1962 in the country.

Mr Ravishankar said besides meeting requirement of elections in India the Company had also been exporting indelible ink to China, Ghana and Denmark worth Rs 12.5 lakhs.

The company, which also makes a good quality of paints, would be supplying paints to the Karnataka State Transport Corporation buses, he said.
