Man bites off brother-in-law's thumb
Chennai, Feb 24 (UNI) In a shocking incident, a man bit off the left thumb of his brother-in-law after a quarrel at Selaiyur here yesterday.
Police said Anbu (25), acted in a fit of rage after his sister's husband, Ramadas, pressed her to go back home with him after a stay at her parent's house.
Ramadas was admitted to the Stanley Medical College Hospital, which forwarded a formal complaint to Selaiyur Police for action.
The incident occurred it all began when Ramadas visited his in-laws house in Selaiyur and asked his wife Jegadambal to gone with him. She had come to her parent's house last month to attend a puja in connection with her father's pilgrimage to Sabarimala.
As she refused to go with him due to some misunderstanding, Ramadas dragged her, and a verbal duel followed. In the melee, Anbu bit the left thumb of Ramadas.
When the hospital authorities said the thumb could be attached back using plastic surgery, the family members searched frantically for four to five hours, only for locals to tell them the severed part had been taken away by a dog.
