J&K high court qashes detention of 20 people under PSA
Srinagar, Feb 24 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir High Court has quashed the detention of 20 people detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) for their alleged involvement in the militant activities.
A division bench of the high court comprising Justice Hakeem Imtiyaz and Justice Mansoor Ahmad also ordered immediate release of the detainees if they are not involved in any other case.
The detainees have filed separate petitions in the court through their counsel challenging their detention under the PSA.
The counsel arguing for the detainees said that they were implicated in false cases by the security forces and the District Magistrates concerned ordered their detention under PSA without applying their minds.
However, the counsels for the governments claimed that they have enough proof which shows that the detainees were involved in the militancy.
After hearing the arguments of both sides, the court ordered their release.
