House tax defaulters face rotten garbage up front!

Allahabad, Feb 24 (UNI) Allahabad Nagar Nigam has adopted a unique method for realisation of house tax from defaulters.

The officials selected five big defaulters in posh civil lines area here and dumped truck loads of rotten garbage in front of their houses.

This resulted to two of them depositing the house tax, while three others expressed their inability.

The Nigam officials have decided to continue this process till the realisation of the house tax arrears.

''We were forced to take this step,'' an official said.

In civil lines area alone, Rs 2 crore house tax was due for realisation, but the defaulters were not showing any interest to clear it, he added.
