Follow my steps in tiding over obstacles: Kalam

Chennai, Feb 24 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today said the advice of his senior officials in the Space Department made him overcome the obstacles in his journey from Rameshwaram to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

While intracting with the school students of Nilgirs at Ooty, Mr Kalam said Professor Satish Dhawan, his 'Guru', who appointed him as the project director of SLV-3, had advised him not to allow the problems to overcome him but to overcome the problems.

''My professor told me not to allow the problems to become my master; rather I must master the problems'', he recalled. ''This is the method how one can overcome obstacles and succeed'', he said.

While giving his remarks on Albert Einstein's that ''science without spirituality is blind, spirituality without science is lame,'' Mr Kalam said ''science and spirituality both aim at the discovery of truth.

Science is required for promotion of material wealth, whereas spirituality is required for promotion of a peaceful and harmonious society, he observed.

''Both are required for promotion of a prosperous, happy and peaceful society'', he pointed out.
