Akola, Feb 24 (UNI) A local sessions court has reduced the maintenance of a three-year-old kid by Rs 100, on the basis that both the father and mother of the child are earning members of the family, while allowing the revision plea filed by the father.

According to the decision, the kid will now get Rs 400 as maintenance instead of Rs 500, official sources said.

Mr Prafulla Ambhore and his wife Mrs Farzana are both working as constables in Akola city police department and earning Rs 15,000 per month jointly.

However, the couple has been separated and Mrs Farzana got Rs 500 per month as maintenance for her son Raj from her husband under section 125 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Crpc), as granted by the local Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Mr Menjoge.

Aggrieved by the order, the father filed the revision in sessions court to reduce the maintenance for the kid as his mother too was earning about Rs 7,000 per month.

It may be recalled that Mr Prafulla Ambhore, a Hindu, has solemnised the inter-religion marriage with Farzana (Muslim by religion) and has a son.

However, both are living separately following a dispute. The husband filed an application in the local civil court for declaring the marriage null and void. The case is now in evidence stage and the judgement will be declared in the near future, sources added.
