CLP questions CPI(M)'s silence on HC verdict on Singur lands

Hyderabad, Feb 24 (UNI) Congress Legislature Party (CLP) today questioned the CPI(M) ''which was fighting against land acquisition for various projects in Andhra Pradesh', for its silence on the Kolkata High Court questioning the West Bengal Government's policy o Singur land acquisition.

Talking to newspersons here, Government Chief Whip N Kirankumar Reddy, whips S Udaya Bhanu and D Sridhar Babu demanded a reply from party Polit Bureau member B V Raghavulu on the issue.

They said the High Court had questioned the West Bengal Government for not following a uniform policy in acquiring land from farmers.

The High Court had also questioned as to how the land in the same area was acquired under different sections of the Land Acquisition Act, they added.

The Congress leaders alleged the silence of the State CPI(M) leaders has proved that their claim that the West Bengal Government was acting in a transparent manner was ''false''.

Mr Reddy said though the State Government was following a transparent policy in the acquisition of lands and payment of compensation to the farmers for the construction of Gangavaram Port, Outer Ring Road, Satyavedu SEZ and other projects, the CPI(M) was politicising the issue to defame the Congress Government.
