A Shot In Arm: RMM Chief
New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) Bofors case accused Ottavio Quattrocchi's detention in Argentina was seen tonight as a 'shot in the arm' by an advocate pursuing a public interest petition in the matter.
''It's a shot in the arm,'' said Ravinder Kumar whose petition for dismissing two law officers for allegedly facilitating the defreezing of Quattrocchi's London bank accounts is before Delhi High Court.
Kumar said he has urged the Court to have British authorities supply the documents and assurances which led to the defreezing of the Italian businessman's bank accounts.
The first step now, he said, was to obtain Quattrocchi's extradition, which the Central Bureau of Investigation has announced it proposes to do.
In a petition filed on behalf of Rashtriya Mukti Morcha, of which he is President, Kumar has sought action against Solicitor General G E Vahanvati and Additional Solicitor General B Dutta.
The petition has charged the two officers with having failed to correctly advise the government on continuance of the Bofors cases.
