23 bodies of Samjhauta blast victims buried

Mehrana, Feb 24 (UNI) As many as 23 bodies of Samjhauta blast victims were buried at Mehrana village in Panipat district today as hundreds of mourners bid them a tearful adieu.

The 'Namaz-e-jenaza' (last prayer) was read by Wakf Imam Maulana Mohd Asghar Qasmi of Ambala as the bodies, 20 of them unidentified, were brought in coffins from the Panipat Civil hospital to the local burial ground here this afternoon.

After the prayers, floral tributes were paid to the victims of Samjhauta Express blasts in which 68 passengers, most of them Pakistanis, were killed on February 18.

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Indian National Lok Dal leader Ajay Chautala, MP, MEA director (Pakistan desk) Jeeva Sagar and Pakistan High Commission counsellor Mukhtar Hussain Triveji placed wreaths on the bodies.
