ULFA C-in-C alleges Army excess on civilians
Guwahati, Feb 23 (UNI) The banned United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has alleged excesses by security forces in Tinsukia district of Asom and areas adjoining the states border with Arunachal Pradesh.
ULFA commander-in-chief Paresh Barua in a statement issued yesterday said, ''Security forces launched attacks in Tinsukia and Asom-Arunachal Pradesh border areas in the name of anti- ULFA operation.'' The ULFA leader alleged air raids were being conducted by the Air Force in the area. He has called upon the global community to condemn such ''barbaric attacks by the forces.'' However, a security source denied committing any excess during operations against ULFA A highly-placed source in Tinsukia district administration said there was no confirmation about air raids being conducted in the name of operation against the ULFA.
The ULFA leader further claimed, ''Though the forces described such attacks as mock drills, the ULFA managed to intercept message which indicated that air raids were being launched against them.'' UNI
