UCIL released Rs 4.65 crore to KHADC for road construction

Shillong, Feb 23 (UNI) The Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL), Jaduguda, has released Rs 4.65 crore out of Rs 10 crore to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) for construction of the 20 km road from Wahkaji to Mawthabah village in Meghalaya's West Khasi Hills district, a UCIL statement said today.

The statement signed by UCIL Superintendent (Geology) S F Kharlyngdoh said the money released to the KHADC includes land compensation to the landowners, earthwork, gradient leveling, laying of Hume pipes advance to contractors for construction of bridges etc.

The construction of the road had gone on smoothly where earth cutting work for 17 km of the road had been completed, the statement said, adding that the work was carried out smoothly to the satisfaction of UCIL officials.

Funds were released to the District Council based on actual work done after spot verification and scrutiny of records by an expert's team of UCIL officials.

Last year, the UCIL Jaduguda has signed an Memorandum of Understanding with Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) for construction of the 20 km road from Wahkaji to Mawthabah village.
