Texas Instruments to register downward price revision in mobiles
Mumbai, Feb 23 (UNI) US-based Texas Instruments Incorporated today announced its third generation GSM solution for the ultra low-cost handsets keeping in view a boom witnessed in the mobile telecom sector and growing demand for affordable handsets.
This chip is specifically designed to enhance the user experience with added features and improvements. This includes dramatic improvements in voice clarity, decibel-level, battery life, support for a range of advanced features including enhanced color display, FM stereo, MP3 ring tones, camera and MP3 playback, an official release said.
''This product is, however, available only to handset manufacturers. It is not open for sale to the general public,'' a company official clarified in the release.
LoCosto ULC single-chip platform will reduce electronic bill of materials (e-BOM) by upto 25 percent compared to the current generation, the release said.
