Second phase of mass marriages on Aug 26

Tirumala, Feb 23 (UNI) The second phase of 'kalyanamasthu' (mass marriages) would be held on Aug 26 this year, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board Chairman B Karunakar Reddy said today.

The marriages would take place on Lord Balaji's birth star, 'Sravanam' at an auspicious hour.

Later, Mr Reddy took the 'lagna patthrika' (marriage invitation) on his head in procession from the Anjaneya Temle to the Srivari temple and offered prayers to the lord of the seven hills.

While speaking to media, the TTD Chairman thanked the media for helping the TTD to make mass marriages a grand success.

He said in the first phase as many as 5063 couples were married.
