Railways pay compensation to Samjhauta victim in Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 23 (UNI) The Railways today paid interim compensation to the next of the kin of Yasmeena Qureshi, who died in the Samjhauta express blast at Panipat in Haryana.
Official sources said an official of the Northern Railway arrived here from Delhi and paid an interim relief of Rs 85,000 in cash to Mohammad Maqbool Qureshi, the husband of Yasmeena.
It was an interim relief and the full compensation announced by the Railway minister Lalu Prasad will be paid separately, the official said.
Yasmeena. who was on way to Lahore to meet her children, was the only Kashmiri woman who was killed in the train blast. Her boby was brought here and laid to rest at Pantha chowk.
