Quattrocchi detained in Argentina, CBI seeks his extradition
New Delhi, Feb 23: Bofors accused Ottavio Quattrocchi has been detained in Argentina, the CBI said today.
Quattrocchi, against whom the Interpol had earlier issued a 'red corner notice', was detained at Iguazu International Airport there.

province
of
Misiones
on
way
to
Buenos
Aires
and
taken
into
preventive
custody,''
Interpol,
Buenos
Aires
has
informed
the
CBI.
The
CBI
has
sought
Quattrocchi's
extradition
and
posted
a
request
to
this
effect
with
the
Ministry
of
External
Affairs.
Legal
formalities
as
required
under
the
Argentine
Extradition
Act
were
being
carried
out
as
there
was
no
extradition
treaty
between
India
and
Argentina,
the
CBI
said,
adding
that
the
modalities
would
be
completed
within
the
mandatory
30
days
of
detention.
Earlier, Argentinian authorities had also informed the Indian Government that the Italian national, accused in CBI Case RC.1(A)/90-ACU.IV/SIG (Bofors Case) and subject of Interpol Red Corner Notice had been detained and taken into preventive custody.
