New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) Dubbing President A P J Abdul Kalam's address to the Joint Sitting of Parliament as a bunch of oft repeated hollow promises, the BJP today said it had proposed 60 amendments to highlight the problems faced by the common man.

BJP Parliamentary Party spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said the amendments basically concern price rise, internal security, terrorism while the government was speaking about 'healing touch' for the perpetrators.

He said the government had not shown even the least determination to liberate the country from the clutches of terrorism and its perpetrators.

He said the letter written by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressing concern about price rise, was nothing but 'a farce'. She could have forced the government to act against price rise just by talking to Dr Singh.

Just by circulating letters, prices will not fall. Correcting the wrong economic policies to govern imports and exports, procurements, offering good price for farm produce were some of the measures that can bring down the prices and not writing letters, Mr Malhotra said.

The BJP and the NDA had sent notices to highlight the ill-effects of price rise on the common man and handling of terrorism with kid gloves, in the first phase of the budget session, the spokesman said.

The discussion on price rise would be taken up on February 27, he added.
