PM Mourns Demise of Sham Lal

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) Describing renowned journalist Sham Lal as a media icon, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today expressed the hope that his inspiring example would continue to guide Indian journalism.

In a message of condolence following the death of the media veteran earlier in the day, the Prime Minister said generations of his readers looked forward to reading his columns for his wit and wisdom and his erudition.

''Shyam Lal was a great editor, a thoughtful writer and a voice of reason, liberal values and patriotism... He was a media icon of my generation,'' said Dr Singh saddened by the news of the passing away of Shyam Lal.
