Oppn walkout over inaction against criminals

Bhopal, Feb 23 (UNI) The opposition Congress today staged a walkout in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly over abduction of government officials by a BJP office-bearer and his friends during cooperative elections in Bhind district.

Dr Govind Singh, who raised the issue through a calling attention notice, alleged BJP district general secretary Ambreesh Sharma and his friends had abducted Agriculture Development Officer Suratram Jatav during cooperative elections in Raun area two days back.

He alleged some other instances of abduction had taken place in the past week in which the BJP district general secretary and his friends were involved.

Police had not arrested them because of pressure from the ruling party despite the fact that the culprits were roaming freely. Mr Sharma held a press conference in Bhind yesterday.

Cooperative Minister Gopal Bhargava claimed free and fair elections were held in the whole state including Bhind for the first time.

Regarding the arrest of Ambreesh, he said police were constantly making efforts to nab the accused.
