Mercury drops to 26.1 degrees C
New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) After showing a rising trend for the last two days, the mercury in Delhi today dropped to 26.1 degrees Celsius.
Cool Northerly winds led to a drop in the maximum temperature, from 27.8 degree C yesterday, to 26.1 degrees C today.
Though clouds enveloping the skyline this morning led to a rise in the minimum temperature to 13.3 degrees C, the drop in the maximum temperature brought about by Northerlies led to a slight chill in the air in Delhi, specially in the evening hours.
Meanwhile, the fog that occurred in the sky in the last two days dissipated today.
The drop in mercury in capital comes after a rise in the maximum and minimum temperatures over the last two days. While the minimum temperature rose to 11.0 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, from 10.2 degrees C on Tuesday, it further rose to 11.7 degree C. The maximum also rose from 25 degrees C on Tuesday to 26.6 degrees C on Wednesday and further to 27.8 degrees C yesterday.
The coming days could lead to a further drop in the maximum temperature in Delhi with weathermen forecasting fresh rainfall and precipitation in North West Indian plains in the next two days under the influence of a fresh Western disturbance.
''An approaching western disturbance is likely to cause isolated to scattered precipitation over plains of North West India during the next two days,''the weather office said.
Infact, the MET office has forecast a drop in the minimum temperature in Delhi to 13 degrees C tomorrow.
The MET office has forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with likelihood of slight fog or mist in the morning hours.
