JCB India sells 50,000 construction machines

Hyderabad, Feb 23 (UNI) JCB India, manufacturer of Construction Equipments has accomplished the feat of selling 50,000 construction machines, said the company's Managing Director Vipin Sondhi here today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the company enjoyed a market share of 55 percent in India.

Mr Sondhi said JCB UK started its operations in India in 1979 as a joint venture and in 2003 became 100 per cent. JCB India offered a range of Backhoe Loaders, Loading Shovels, Tracked Excavators, Telehandlers and Skid Steer Loaders specially suited for tough Indian conditions. Sondhi added that JCB UK stood in fourth place in the world, the first being Caterpiller.

He said the company had established one facility in Pune with an outlay of 50 million dollars and another with an investment of Rs 100 crore at Ballabhghadh. It was trying to consolidate and further strengthen these facilities in future, he added.

Mr Sondhi said of the 50,000 machines sold by the company since its establishment, 10,860 were sold last year itself due to increase in the construction and road-laying activity in the country during the past four to five years.

The company had achieved a turnover of Rs 2,000 crore last year and was expecting an increase of 20 to 25 percent this year, he added.
