Gujarat govt to set up a gas-based crematoriums' network
Gandhinagar, Feb 23 (UNI) The Gujarat Government has planned to set up a gas-based crematoriums' network thoughout the state in order to protect environment and conserve trees as well as modernize traditional arrangements of cremation of dead bodies.
The gas-based crematoriums' network will be set up in all the areas from where gas grid network passes, Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala told the Gujarat Assembly while making his record 12th Budget speech.
He announced that the government, through its public sector companies, has planned to construct major gas grid network at a cost of Rs 220 crore to cover the big cities of south and north Gujarat.
He said piped natural gas has been provided to Gandhinagar in the current year. The state government proposes to provide piped gas from early 2007 to Vapi, Valsad, Navsari, Sarigam, Nadiad, Chandkheda, Motera, Rajkot, Morbi, Ahmedabad, Anand, Mehsana, Himatnagar, Jamnagar, Kutch and Bhavnagar. Gas based crematoriums will be set up in all these cities, he said.
