Govt to encourage public-private parnership in tourism
New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today said the government would encourage public-private partnership in tourism across the country with a view to improving the quality of infrastructure to cash in on the booming industry.
''Tourism has enormous potential and we are already seeing its benefits,'' he said while addressing the joint session of Parliament.
Dr Kalam said there had been an impressive growth in recent months in foreign tourists arrivals, foreign exchange earnings and employment generation.
He, however, emphasised that much more had to be done to increase the number of domestic as well as foreign tourists, given the potential of tourism and India's rich heritage and diversity.
