Dharwad-Panaji road to be upgraded at a cost of Rs 160 cr
Hubli, Feb 23 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has given green signal for the upgradation of a 150 km stretch between Dharwad and Panaji at a cost of Rs 160 crore, State Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar revealed today.
Informing this at a review meeting here, he said Public Works Minister H D Revanna had approved the work, for which tenders have been notified. The Minister had also approved the upgradation of other roads like Dharwad-Soundatti, Dharwad-Hebsur and Kundgol-Lakshmeshwar in Dharwad district.
On tackling drought situation in the district, Mr Shettar directed the officials to take up works suggested by people's representatives and to remain in headquarters. A Rs 3.15 crore drinking water scheme was being prepared to meet the drinking water needs of the rural areas of the district. Besides repairing old borewells, new borewells would be drilled wherever necessary.
