AIADMK in Puducherry gear up for Jaya's B'day
Puducherry, Feb 23 (UNI) Distribution of assistance to the poor, hoisting of party flags and special prayers would be held to mark the 59th birthday celebrations of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa a here tomorrow.
AIADMK secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, addressing a press conference here today, said the day would begin with the hoisting of flag at the party headquarters followed by garlanding the statue of party founder-leader M G Ramachandran.
While the golden chariot at the famous Manakkula Vinayagar temple would be pulled by party functionaries, special 'abishegam' would be performed at the Varadaraja Perumal temple, niskar at the mosque on the Mulla street and a special prayer would be held in a church, he added.
As many as 590 poor women would be provided with free sarees and blouses. Dhotis and cycle rickshaws, push carts, sewing machines, tricycles for physically-challenged and other items would be distributed at the party headquarters besides 1008 Sankabishegam would be performed in a temple in the evening to mark the occasion, he said.
