30 projects with over Rs 28,000 cr investment cleared
Bangalore, Feb 23 (UNI) Karnataka Major Industries Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu today said the eighth State High-level Clearance Committee approved 30 new industrial projects with an investment of Rs 28,202.05 crore.
Talking to reporters here, he said the meeting, held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister today, approved the 30 projects, to come up in 18 districts. The projects were expected to generate more than 1,43,000 employment opportunities.
Mr Naidu said that of them, atleast 15 units with an investment of Rs 7,678.45 crore and generating over 6,000 job opportunities, would be in the manufacturing sector. The State was witnessing a healthy trend of shifting focus from IT sector to manufacturing and services sector, he added.
The 30 projects deal with cement, iron and steel, wind power, health, tourism, gas distribution, textiles, and IT and ITeS sectors.
The Minister said the State Government was committed to start Special Economic Zones once the Centre came out with a clear cut policy on the issue.
