YSR for hiking SHGs with focus on lower income groups

Hyderabad, Feb 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today asked the Rural Development Department to increase the number of Women Self-Help Groups (SHG) in the state by including the lower income groups other than BPL families.

The Chief Minister stressed that further focus should be on the lower income groups and the 'pavala vaddi' and bank linkage scheme should be extended to the new SHGs on the existing lines.

He said the intention of the government is to include the low income groups also in the SHGs and bank linkage mode.

At present there are 6.8 lakh women SHGs with 65 lakh members.

The Chief Minister wanted this to be increased to cover all the low income group population in the state.

The Chief Minister was reviewed the progress of Indira Prabha (Comprehensive Land Development Project of the Rural Development Department) Scheme.
