Hyderabad, Feb 22 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu today said his party has taken strong objection to the state government's action against media.

Addressing a press conference here, he alleged the Chief Minister was resorting to vindictive action against the press and indulging in gross violation of constitutional provisions regarding Freedom of Press.

He said the raids on the Margadarsi Financiers was construed as attack on Eenadu newspaper and its business organisations as the newspaper was exposing the misdeeds of the state government and 'corrupt practices' resorted to by the Chief Minister and his family members.

Mr Naidu said his party would fight against attack on Freedom of Press by the state government at national level in cooperation with like-minded parties.

He said his party had submitted a memorandum to Governor Rameshwar Thakur asking him to take steps to protect the democracy and Freedom of Press and stop its harassment.

The TDP President said a party delegation would submit a memorandum in this regard to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President A P J Abdul Kalam.

He questioned the role of the state Government in conducting raids on Margadarsi management when there were several regulatory authorities in the country, including RBI to look into the matter.

Mr Naidu alleged that the raids on the Margadarsi were conducted only to blackmail, threaten and financially weaken the Eenadu newspaper.
